Beyonc & JAY-Z Sat During The National Anthem At The Super Bowl – & Twitter Had A LOT To Say About It… – Perez Hilton
Twitter sure loves to make everything an end-of-the-world fight to the death, doesn’t it?
Sunday night was no different because just as Demi Lovato was
As you can see (below), clips like this circulated on social media during the Kansas City Chiefs‘ eventual win last night:
Beyoncé and Jay Z watching Demi perform the national anthem
But as you can probably already guess, most of those tweeters with the strongest reactions didn’t exactly come to that (obvious) conclusion.
“Not only should Beyoncé and Jay Z be ashamed for sitting during our National Anthem BUT they should be more ashamed that they have raised their child to also sit and disrespect our nation,” wrote one aggrieved user. They continued:
“We stand for the men and women who put their lives on the line everyday for US. Disgusting.”
Another user noted their watch party actually stood for the anthem at home, which is, uhhh, a little extra, but hey, you do you:
“When the anthem came on we stood up in silence till it was over…and we were at home on the couch keeping it simple. Beyoncé and Jay Z could have at least stood up while the anthem of the country that made them rich and famous played. Elitest [sic] leftist scumbags, all of them.”
But not everybody was so cut-and-dry against the celeb couple’s decision to stay seated!
One supporter tweeted this (below):
“if anyone following me is mad that jay z and beyoncé exercised their first amendment rights, on deciding not to stand for the national anthem during BLACK HISTORY MONTH you can unfollow me.”
And another added a HIGHlarious video commentary on the whole situation:

HA!!!
Finally, Cardi B stole the show with this one, slaying conservative political commentator Tomi Lahren once again with but one simple tweet:
Tomi Lahren hopped her miserable ass on Twitter to shade Beyoncé and Jay Z for not standing for the National Anthem and Cardi is ready to dog walk her once again. Cardi B for President. pic.twitter.com/7xshFtzxh6

YESSS!!! Get her, Cardi!!!
Anyways, what do U think, Perezcious readers?! Are you offended by Bey and Jay’s decision not to stand for the national anthem? Or, like normal people, are you cool with it knowing our country allows people to freely express themselves like this, whether we agree with it personally or not? Not to mention, the couple has been vehement supporters of Colin Kaepernick, who kneeled to expose social injustice and lost his football job as a result.
Only one right answer here… let’s see if you can guess right down in the comments (below)…
